I think the last time we chatted I had celebrated with my friends graduating from their various programs and embarking on the next stage of their lives.
I have been out of school for years now so I forget that feeling until I see their face as they realize it is only the beginning!
Since then I have spent the summer nursing a hurt back and bum knee, that I thought was due to me compensating and so on, so I realized it wasn't getting better, I literally couldn't go a 12 hour shift without my leg going numb and being in pain.
~~insert a-ha! moment music here~~
This had to stop.
I looked at all I was doing or not doing and realized I was not going to beat this going along how I was. Since I was unable to tolerate the gym to get stronger I had to focus on getting lighter and taking the pressure off my joints that way.
So 4 months later and 25 pounds lighter I was able to go back to the gym pain free and run!
I was never so happy to crank up the treadmill and with a little help from the black eyed peas was able to complete the run/walk without having back pain, knee pain or any sciatic pain!!!
This coupled with some weights and stretches I came home happy, sweaty and thoroughly exhausted-- loving every minute of it.
This is going to be a long road so I thought I could use some company-- don't worry I don't expect you to run alongside me or give up desert or brave the spandex rich environment of the gym. I just wanted to tell you so I am now accountable to all 2 of you who wander upon my little blogging project.
I promise to try to keep you up to date and it wont be this long in between visits again!!
Now comes the challenge of keeping it up-- wish me luck!
